For those who are new to Pompano fishing, Victor Wright, Manager at Gulf Breeze Bait and Tackle, shares some secret tips for catching the prized pompano. 1) The best bait to use is sandfleas and shrimp 2) Look for a deep hole with a wash out, where the pompano like to congregate 3) Use a 2 drop pompano rig,with a 2-5 oz. weight, depending on the roughness of the surf 4) The best times to fish are early in the morning, and late afternoon, however, Pompano can be caught any time of day.
